Senior Scientist In VIvo Pharmacology

Crinetics is seeking a highly motivated in vivo pharmacology senior scientist to join our growing and dynamic team. This individual will be an integral part of the company’s efforts to discover and develop small molecule therapeutics for rare endocrine disorders and endocrine-related cancers. This is a unique opportunity to work with a proven and well-funded drug discovery and development team in a small company environment in the heart of San Diego’s biotechnology community.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and conduct and interpret in vivo experiments to evaluate the efficacy, pharmacokinetics and safety of therapeutic candidate molecules in support of drug discovery programs
  • Develop new acute and chronic animal models of disease states   
  • Pro-actively investigate, improve, change or adapt existing methods and techniques
  • Analyze and present experimental data using Prism, Excel, MS Office or comparable software
  • Present findings and represent in vivo department to multidisciplinary discovery project teams
  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative to oversee, troubleshoot and accurately perform data analysis on in vivo studies supported by the team
  • Participate in strategic planning and the evaluation of new targets
  • Prepare technical reports to support project reviews, publications and IND submissions
  • Lead and supervise RAs
  • Design and manage external studies with Contract Research Organizations
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with company established practices and procedures, including laboratory notebooks, computer files, quality and regulatory guidelines, and safety standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • PhD in Biology, Neuroscience, Behavioral Pharmacology, Physiology, Endocrinology, or related discipline with 5+ years of experience. Applicants with BS or MS degrees may apply, but must demonstrate 10+ years of significant and relevant experience
  • Experience in conducting rodent in vivo pharmacology studies to demonstrate translational efficacy to a variety of endocrine and endocrine-related diseases
  • Hands on proficiency in rodent handling procedures and in vivo skills including dosing (IV, PO, SC), blood and tissue collection, necropsy, etc.
  • Proficiency with basic surgical techniques
  • Must be independent and able to follow pre-established experimental designs, as well as develop new methods, protocols, and technologies based on existing literature
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present summaries of research results to team members or to a multidisciplinary team of researchers
  • Must have a strong work ethic and be enthusiastic for animal and laboratory work
  • Must be detail-oriented, punctual, reliable and available on weekends when necessary
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Experience with writing reports and technical regulatory documents a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change
