Your tasks and responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role, Staff Scientist Personal Care, are to:

  • Present sub-team recommendations, conclusions and challenges to Technical Category team;
  • Ensure Technical Category Lead and Sr. Associate Director have an accurate view of the challenges and risks associated with projects;
  • Provide timelines and cost for projects for Process Development;
  • Ensure that outsourcing partners deliver against timelines and milestones;
  • Communicate and escalate issues to manager and/or Technical Category Lead if outsourcing partner does not deliver;
  • Lead the Development of outsourced products (formulation through scale-up);
  • Plan and manage tech transfer activities;
  • Assess the feasibility of project/product;
  • Determine experimental and stability test requirements;
  • Conduct process feasibility tests;
  • Assess risk assessments prior to feasibility stage for use in ISFs;
  • Assesses risk during feasibility and develops risk mitigation plans;
  • Propose product processes consistent with business priorities;
  • Provide input on experimental and stability test requirements;
  • Write and garner approval for Process Development Reports;
  • Ensure appropriate analytical testing is carried out;
  • Interface with Analytical and Formulation Development to review and interpret test results;
  • Facilitate effective testing within manufacturing contexts;
  • Participate in the selection of appropriate sites and manufacturing technologies to work with during scale up;
  • Effectively communicate processes, methods and materials to selected manufacturing site;
  • Review and approve Stability Protocols;
  • Lead the overall technology transfer to the site;
  • Ensure support to Clinical Supplies for manufacturing clinical supplies;
  • Review and approve all clinical trial batch records;
  • Ensure appropriate engagement of third party vendors;
  • Participate in the evaluation of third party vendors;
  • Manage third-party vendors to established Budget, timelines and contracts;
  • Research and propose new process technologies to Management;
  • Conduct feasibility proposals to implement new technologies in production;
  • Review and approve scientist experimental plans.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (or international equivalent) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other scientific degree with a minimum eight years of proven experience OR Master's Degree (or international equivalent) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other scientific degree with a minimum of four years of proven experience OR Ph.D. (or international equivalent) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other scientific degree with a minimum of two years of proven experience;
  • Experience in consumer product development;
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams.
