Your tasks and responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role, Research Scientist, Product Research, are to:

  • Work with Research & Development (R&D) teams to create consumer meaningful products by designing and managing opportunities for formulation scientists, packaging engineers, claims and other developmental colleagues to observe and interact with consumers with the aim of refining product design. Activities may include observing product use, product application, evaluating product benefits and overall impressions about the proposed designs;
  • Provide design guidance to product development teams by managing exploratory performance testing using various instrumentation (i.e., skin moisturization, skin elasticity, skin aging, SPF, etc.);
  • Manage consumer engagement activities in accordance with the policies, procedures, ethics, and protocols required by Bayer, health authorities, and other relevant regulatory agencies;
  • Manage contracts with external vendors;
  • Manage project planning, progress reporting, contract vendor management and troubleshooting;
  • Ensure project results meet business requirements regarding need, technical quality, reliability and timing;
  • Establish study designs, execute consumer studies and establish study reports.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (or international equivalent) with a minimum of six years of proven experience OR a Master's Degree (or international equivalent) with a minimum of two years of proven experience, OR a Ph.D. (or international equivalent);
  • Experience designing consumer study protocols, focus group protocols, consumer study ethics;
  • Experience using GCPs, GLPs, bioinstrumentation, and product performance testing;
  • Experience pn data analysis, including proficiency in statistical analysis, report writing and relevant quality control measures;
  • Working knowledge of Design Thinking or experience in human centered design innovation approach which translates human needs, emotions and tensions into highly desired consumer solutions;
  • Demonstrated ability to work credibly across technical and commercial disciplines and influence those colleagues and stakeholders not in direct line of management.
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills that can communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
