The individual will be a hands-on analytical scientist working under a senior research investigator to provide analytical support for the discovery of novel therapeutic biomolecules. The position will require close collaboration with other disciplines in analytical, chemical, protein and biological sciences. The chosen individual will provide analytical support for the discovery of biologic drugs using size exclusion chromatography (SEC), capillary gel electrophoresis (CGE), hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC), reverse phase chromatography (RPC), ion exchange chromatography (IEX), and endotoxin, and glycan analyses. Self-motivation, scientific curiosity, attention to details, and strong communication skills are required.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and evaluating analytical methods using the above techniques, including preparation of formal reports.
  • Performing detailed characterization of proteins and protein conjugates for preclinical biological studies.
  • Conducting protein stability tests.
  • Developing and implementing chromatographic and spectroscopic methods to quantify and characterize biomolecules with respect to purity, aggregation, degradation, charge variants and high order structures.
  • Contributing to advancing separation science capabilities to support the discovery biologics portfolio.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of sample preparation techniques such as SPE, ultra-filtration, dialysis and immunocapture.

    Requirements:
  • BS/MS with 2-5 years' relevant pharmaceutical industry experience.
  • Solid background in separation science and biochemistry.
  • Strong hands-on experience with operation and troubleshooting of analytical instruments.
  • Experience in biomolecule separation using size exclusion chromatography (SEC), capillary gel electrophoresis (CGE), hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC), reverse phase chromatography (RPC), and/or ion exchange chromatography (IEX).
  • Experience in spectroscopic characterization of proteins using circular dichroism, fluorescence and infrared spectroscopy is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with others working in diverse areas of expertise.
  • Strong computer skills.
