The Center for Observational Research & Data Sciences (CORDS) Lead role is responsible for the development and execution of BMS' real world data strategy, including delivering a strategy that reflects BMS current data environment, prioritized assessment of data needs, ongoing monitoring of active and potential opportunities and proactive development of data sources. The role requires a thorough understanding of BMS' research priorities, mastery of clinical, genomic and numerous types of real world data resources both inside and external to BMS, a strong execution focus to deliver a robust data environment tuned to a broad set of customer needs, and excellent communication skills to establish strong links with strategic leaders across the organization. Success in this role will require a strong presence in discussions with senior leaders, constant attention to changing priorities and needs, readiness to proactively develop solutions in the market where none yet exist and a collaborative approach as this role will be embedded in matrix teams to ensure visibility and exchange of information.

Responsibilities:

Deliver BMS' real world data strategy covering existing, emerging and developmental data sources in alignment with BMS' business priorities and focused on delivery of business value and impact
  • Direct the data strategy process including leadership of matrix teams providing research priorities and expert contributors to assess and recommend data opportunities; lead data strategy working group operations supporting data assessments with functional SMEs
  • Identify external opportunities to develop data solutions to address high-priority gaps in data resources, deliver
  • Collaborate with leadership in identifying priorities and gaps and with external partners in aligning data, platform and capability opportunities with BMS needs
  • Provide BMS functions with consultative support on data strategy details, opportunities, assessments and innovations to ensure high quality, value-driven research project
  • Partner with IT to create and maintain a comprehensive inventory/catalog of current data assets and associated metadata/descriptive statistics to maximize the value of each asset to the organization
  • Assess global data and analytics environment, public and private, to ensure current views are comprehensive across geographies and engagement points
  • Partner with IT on business requirements and delivery of evolving advanced analytics ecosystem
  • Lead data acquisition governance business process and financial and FMV assessments
  • Lead data access governance process


Qualifications

• Masters degree in research or quantitative field required; PhD preferred • 10+ years' experience in pharmaceutical health services, outcomes, pharmaco-epidemiologic or related field; experience with clinco-genomic data a significant plus • 7+ years' experience using retrospective healthcare data sets, clinical study data and clinico-genomic data in the conduct of epidemiologic, economic and/or operational research • Ability to synthesize information from a broad matrix of functional partners into a unified strategy • Extensive experience with partner engagement in the development, licensing and application of data to a complex array of research needs and priorities • Experience with US and ex-US data collaborators and licensors • Thorough technical and scientific understanding of observational research methods • Knowledge of research applications used in the conduct of health services research including SAS, R, Python, Tableau and other applications • Strong consulting skills and proven capabilities in stakeholder engagement and matrix team leadership • Proven strong writing and oral communication skills • Awareness of the drug development and commercialization process • Understanding of data platform technologies, data quality assessment and data curation processes is preferred • Experience with HCP enterprise data environments a plus • Experience working with IT on capabilities that maximize understanding of current data assets
