We are looking for a Senior Hazardous Waste Operator to join our organization. This role will be based out of our North Chicago facility. In this role you will work to assure the proper disposition of unwanted, used and unused materials from AbbVie manufacturing operations (including warehouses and distribution center(s). The primary objective is to generate revenue, reduce waste and disposal cost and assure all material handling and disposition complies with all EPA, RCRA, DEA,BATF, FTZ and DOT regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities:
  • Operation of forklift and hand trucks in a safe and reliable manner.
  • Empty container management via crushing, washing, stacking and trailer loading and unloading.
  • Loading/Unloading of trailers, tanks and tanker trucks.
  • Perform material inventory management on tanks and warehoused per all required regulatory agencies.
  • Perform material logistics throughout North Chicago site.
  • Acquire a CDA (Certified Drug Agent)
  • Prepare and process all material including Clinical and DEA per requirements via the appropriate systems (Arcos/Key Interface systems).
  • Coordinate material flow activity in P1,P3 and C15 staging areas.
  • Listen actively to acquire information and understand work procedures, become knowledgeable of all assigned jobs in assigned area, and maintain operating conditions within the desired range with minimal supervision.
  • Exercise job knowledge to independently perform job assignments.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and compliance with all safety, environmental, regulatory and cGMP requirements.
  • Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot problem situation with minimal assistance. Under minimal supervision make timely decisions to accomplish department goals under conditions of uncertainty while evaluating short and long term consequences.
  • Participate in the sharing of information to promote overall efficiency department, attends and actively participates in meeting. Identifies potential safety and compliance issues.
*Position can be filled at a Hazardous Waste Operator or Senior Hazardous Waste Operator based on the experience of the candidate.

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Basic Computer skills and spreadsheet knowledge.
  • Valid driver's license required

  • Basic technical knowledge with manufacturing experience in a chemical, pharmaceutical, hazardous waste or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations.
  • Certified Drug Agent (CDA)
