Minimum Qualifications:
• Master's degree in Animal Science, Pharmacology, Biology, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or a closely related field, or equivalent experience/training.
• Knowledge of analytical chemistry and experience to critically interpret and perform techniques and procedures for analysis of biological samples as described in the Standard Operating Procedures.
• Experience using sample preparation techniques such as solid phase and liquid-liquid extraction, sample spiking, and matrix matching.
• Skills to operate a wide range of manual and computer-controlled analytical equipment including Liquid Chromatography - Mass Spectrometry and Gas Chromatography - Mass Spectrometry.
• Supervisory skills to recruit, select, hire, train, evaluate the performance of employees, encourage staff development, and perform conflict resolution for staff supervised.
• Knowledge and experience to teach, technically train and provide analytical chemistry-related consultation to technical and professional personnel.
• Customer service skills, with the experience to interact harmoniously with individuals at all levels of the University and with external clients. Skills to obtain, comprehend, and give adequate consideration to others' priorities, opinions and concerns. Skills to communicate complex and sensitive information, negotiate and resolve conflicts and promote teamwork.
• Experience working in a high throughput diagnostic lab setting. -Experience troubleshooting analytical assay issues and instrumentation.
• Working knowledge of computer systems and Laboratory Information Management Systems.
• Experience maintaining laboratory equipment to obtain maximum performance from analytical instruments.
• Skills to prepare analytical reagents, solutions, controls and standards. -Knowledge of statistical analysis to perform mathematical calculations.
• Independent thinking, decision-making and problem-solving skills to evaluate and solve problems and/or make sound recommendations.
• Knowledge of QA/QC to continuously produce high quality data.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience providing effective management and leadership.
• Computer skills with software applications for data entry, spreadsheets, e- mail, database.
• Organizational skills to schedule work activities.
• Skills to handle/dispose of hazardous materials. -Familiarity with literature sources of analytical procedures. -Skills to operate laboratory and computer equipment.
