The pricing, reimbursement and access landscape is rapidly evolving and the role of the payer is growing significantly around the world. Advances in scientific and technological research are opening up new, promising treatments for previously difficult to treat diseases, increasing the demand on already constrained healthcare budgets. To succeed in this environment, the Global Market Access & Pricing (GMAP) Organization at AbbVie is building best-in-class pricing and market access capabilities with the overall objective to drive remarkable impact by achieving timely access for patients with optimal price, time to reimbursement and level of access. Position: This role reports into the Director, Market Access Capabilities. The Manager, Market Access Capabilities will lead global efforts to advance pricing and market access capabilities to excellence through the design, architecture and implementation of market access talent development programs. The incumbent will assist in executing on the capability implications emerging from the No Number Long Range Plan (NNLRPs) trends analysis and Future Fit. They will also be responsible for the implementation of pricing and market access capabilities globally and facilitate best practice sharing. Key responsibilities include:
  • Lead on design, architecture and implementation of market access talent development programs including the continued development of content, experiences, and coaching relating to the Access Competency Framework and Access Academy
  • Develop core curriculum and blended learning approaches to support access as an organizational capability by engaging with key stakeholders to understanding training needs cross-functionally
  • Develop and leverage existing leadership programs to accelerate market access talent globally along with identification and coordination of special projects to support on job experience
  • Lead the execution of the Market Access Future Fit capabilities across the globe
  • Drive the creation of an access mindset through training and other communication initiatives
  • Ensure capabilities across market access functions (areas and affiliates) are developed and maintained along the product lifecycle
  • Drive the alignment of the Market Access capabilities to the Brand Excellence capabilities through training, coaching, and experiences
  • Facilitate the alignment of the Market Access competency framework to job descriptions across functions and across the globe
  • Facilitate sharing of best practices across functions, across therapeutic areas, and across the globe
  • Work in collaboration with Global Market Access, Global Marketing and Commercial Operations, Global Commercial Development, Global Pharmaceutical Research & Development, Government Affairs, HEOR, Managed Healthcare, Areas/Affiliates market access, and other functions to raise awareness of and educate the organization

Qualifications: Education:
  • BA/BS Required. MBA, MS, Pharm D, or other advanced degree preferred.
Experience:
  • The candidate must have at least 5 years of progressive experience preferably in a variety of areas including market access, managed care marketing, payer support, health economics, marketing, pricing and reimbursement, or payer policy
  • Background in managed care, payer marketing, market access policy, or a related field is preferred.
  • Global Business experience with multi-country experience is preferred
  • Functional expertise in capability development, and learning and development initiatives
  • Ability to navigate and influence in a complex, global organization is essential
  • The candidate must be able to lead without direct authority by influencing, inspiring and motivating cross-functional teams
  • Strong strategic skills is essential to anticipate trends, shaping the environment and respond to changes
