Position Summary

This position is in Pre-Therapeutic Target Discovery in Tarrytown, NY. The student will validate an immunostaining protocol to visualize developing vasculature in whole-mount mouse embryos using 3D imaging. Immunostaining protocol validation will include testing antibodies on mouse embryo sections to compare and contrast extant of vascular staining, and testing a cocktail of antibodies to possibly improve quality of staining. 3D imaging modalities for which we are interested in validating immunostaining protocols for are: Optical Projection Tomography (OPT) and High Resolution Episcopic Microscopy (HREM).

• Must be an undergraduate, masters or PhD student
• Must be pursuing a degree in Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering or Biology
• Experience with protocol development, protocol troubleshooting, immunohistochemistry, operational knowledge of fluorescent and brightfield dissection and compound microscopy, microscope photography and basic computer skills (MS Office).
• Experience in working with mouse anatomy, mouse dissections, embryo dissections, 3D sample preparation and basic knowledge of 3D imaging modalities are a plus but not a requirement.
• Must be able to document experiments, data generated and maintain a lab notebook.
• Must have good manual dexterity in order to handle tissue samples. Must have the ability to complete tasks on time. Must have demonstrated attention to detail, strong organizational and communication skills, and strong problem solving skills.
• Must be motivated, have a strong work ethic, be a team player, and demonstrate enthusiasm.

General Intern Program Information:
• Must be enrolled in, or accepted to, an academic program pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, PhD or PharmD
• Summer Program is full-time (~40 hrs/wk) for at least 10 weeks and is paid
• Prefer demonstrated leadership in areas such as campus activities, clubs, sports or the community
• Minimum GPA of 3.0
• You will work with a specific manager on a project(s)
• Enjoy weekly 1 hour Intern Program events: learn about other areas of the company from VPs and other employees, soft skills workshops, networking, volunteering, and more!
• Present to your team on your summer project
