Position Summary

These positions are in Bioreactor Scale-Up & Development within PreClinical Manufacturing and Process Development in Tarrytown, NY. There are 3 openings for Summer 2018. Each opening is described below.

Position 1: The student will be involved in late stage bioreactor scale up development work. Specifics of the project will depend on timelines and current areas of focus in Bioreactor Scale Up and Development. The student will learn basic fundamentals of cell culture and bioreactor operation, while focusing on a specific development project. Potential projects will include literature reviews, experiment planning, execution of lab work required to complete the project, associated data analysis and a final presentation.

Position 2: The student will assist in the development of operational technologies to manage data flows for the Bioreactor Scale Up and Development group. The project will focus on automatically pulling data from sources such as the Laboratory Information Management System and OSIsoft PI to provide context to various data consumers. Methods and skills learned will include real time analytics and batch analytics. This student will have exposure to widely used off-the-shelf data technologies as well as the opportunity to utilize vendor SDKs and APIs.

Position 3: The student will help automate document generation through HTML, CSS, and JavaScript Development. The UI will prompt the user with several questions required to complete a template resulting in a final document usable with our processes. Key Responsibilities include:
• Design and test application that captures our unique process considerations
• Keep up to date documentation for all user tools
• Engage with end users to ensure product is meeting expectations

• Must be an undergraduate student
• Must be pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Bioengineering, or Biomedical Engineering
• Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript Development
• Exposure to a lab environment in an academic or industrial setting is preferred, such as sterile technique and bioreactor operation
• Must have strong communication skills.
• Experience using any software language, such as MATLAB, SQL, VBA, HTML, JSL, .NET or Python for project 2
• Must have demonstrated capability to understand operation and/or automation of pilot scale or larger equipment for project 2
• Familiarity with unit testing, OSIsoft PI, JMP, or Spotfire is preferred but not required for project 2

General Intern Program Information:
• Must be enrolled in, or accepted to, an academic program pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, PhD or PharmD
• Summer Program is full-time (~40 hrs/wk) for at least 10 weeks and is paid
• Prefer demonstrated leadership in areas such as campus activities, clubs, sports or the community
• Minimum GPA of 3.0
• You will work with a specific manager on a project(s)
• Enjoy weekly 1 hour Intern Program events: learn about other areas of the company from VPs and other employees, soft skills workshops, networking, volunteering, and more!
• Present to your team on your summer project
