Summary:
Using scientific expertise, information management experience, and project management skills, the Associate Manager, R&D Planning, Strategy and Operations develops, implements, and manages systems and tools to advance drug discovery and development projects through the pipeline.

Responsibilities:
Drug and/or Technology Discovery & Development:
Manages systems to track and advance drug discovery and technology projects. Uses knowledge in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, and immunology to interpret, categorize, and organize key data and information into tracking tools and document management systems (e.g. SharePoint). Conducts DNA and protein sequence analysis, including sequence alignments, BLAST searches, and sequence identity calculations. Designs and/or evaluates protein constructs to support cloning requests. Uses knowledge of key assay formats (immunoassays, cell-based bioassays, Biacore/Octet, FACS) to interpret data and to contribute to the team-based lead selection process.
Process and Data Management:
Manages and updates tools that allow for program and project tracking and sharing of data/metrics. Designs and implements systems and processes to manage operational workflows supporting therapeutic discovery. Submits, manages, and tracks cloning requests to generate program reagents and lead candidates identified during the discovery process. Supports implementation and management of user access and data governance policies and processes for document management systems (e.g. SharePoint).
Team Management:
Ensures effective, accurate, appropriate and timely communication across functional areas within the project / program. Serves as a point of contact for key stakeholders within and outside the team regarding progress and alignment with project/program goals.
Problem Solving:
Proactively identifies issues and provides general guidance to resolve project/program and team challenges. Develops solutions to meet productivity and quality goals and objectives.
Planning, Tracking & Project Reporting:
Develops, maintains and updates integrated project plans relevant to team objectives and ensures alignment across functions and with management. Supports maintenance of key data and milestones for assigned projects. Provides project summaries and general guidelines to support presentations to senior management and collaborators as needed.

Requirements:
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Hands-on laboratory experience (molecular cloning, biological and biochemical assays) highly desired. Experience in basic programming and information management (e.g., bioinformatics scripting, web design) preferred. Proficiency in managing site structure and designing SharePoint workflows highly desired. Effective in working with and engaging junior through senior-level colleagues, both within and outside the company. Comfortable learning on the fly. Able to handle ambiguity and to work independently to solve problems. Capable in navigating challenges when encountered. Resolves problems and negotiates conflicts with tact, diplomacy and composure.
Bachelors/Masters/ PhD with a minimum of 6 years of relevant progressive project / program management experience in [drug / technology discovery / development. Advanced degree (e.g. PhD, MS plus MBA) preferred.
