Position Summary

These positions are in Analytics within PreClinical Manufacturing and Process Development in Tarrytown, NY. There are 3 openings for Summer 2018. Each opening is described below.

Position 1: The student will (i) perform daily bench top lab operations to develop knowledge of basic lab techniques and (ii) assist in running platform analytical assays for routine sample characterization in support of upstream/ downstream process development groups. In addition to general lab support, student will be required to work on an individual research project.

Position 2: The student will (i) perform daily bench top lab operations to develop knowledge of basic lab techniques and (ii) assist in running platform analytical assays for routine sample characterization in support of upstream/ downstream process development groups. In addition to general lab support, this student will be required to work on an individual research project. The project will be to develop and evaluate a method for statistical process control (SPC) of an existing plate-based colorimetric assay. The student will utilize knowledge gained during routine support to design, perform, and analyze an experiment to determine driving factors for the assay. The student will also propose a control action plan for what to do if the assay runs outside of standard limits.

Position 3: The student will (i) perform daily bench top lab operations to develop knowledge of basic lab techniques and (ii) assist in running platform analytical assays for routine sample characterization in support of upstream/ downstream process development groups. In addition to general lab support, student will be required to work on an individual research project. The student will develop and evaluate a method for statistical process control (SPC) of an existing liquid chromatography (LC) based assay. This student will apply statistical analysis techniques to set control limits for the SPC chart in JMP statistical software. This new method will be evaluated against an existing control method for use. Following control chart implementation, the student will conduct root cause analysis and explore control strategies for ensuring assay suitability and assay control and demonstrate fit for use.

• Must be an undergraduate or MS student
• Must be pursuing a degree in Biochemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Biochemistry
• Experience with pipetting, buffer preparation, chromatography, centrifugation, UV spectrometry, and basic statistics is a plus.
• Academic research or industry experience in a laboratory setting for >0.5 years is preferred.

General Intern Program Information:
• Must be enrolled in, or accepted to, an academic program pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, PhD or PharmD
• Summer Program is full-time (~40 hrs/wk) for at least 10 weeks and is paid
• Prefer demonstrated leadership in areas such as campus activities, clubs, sports or the community
• Minimum GPA of 3.0
• You will work with a specific manager on a project(s)

• Present to your team on your summer project
