Position Summary

Known for its scientific and operational excellence, Regeneron is a leading science-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers, invents, develops, manufactures, and commercializes medicines for the treatment of serious medical conditions. Regeneron commercializes medicines for eye diseases, high LDL-cholesterol, atopic dermatitis and a rare inflammatory condition and has product candidates in development in other areas of high unmet medical need, including rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, pain, cancer and infectious diseases.

These positions are in Therapeutic Antibodies in Tarrytown, NY. There are 4 openings for Summer 2018. Each opening is described below.

Position 1: The student will be supporting the velocimmune development in antibody therapeutic by performing experiment using label free technology (Biacore/Octet/Kinexa). Specifically using Octet/Biacore in validating binding interaction for screening reagent constructs and comparator mAb supernatant . Also, supporting the development of functional assay on the Octet by looking at receptor-ligand interaction between cross-species and other potential binding partners for velocimmune targets. Other specific projects will be performing different binding formats of epitope mapping for secondary characterization of lead mAb from CH and BST. Final projects will be performing solution equilibrium binding on the Kinexa system for affinity on protein-protein interaction, multivalent or cell surface targets.

Position 2: The student will be working in the High-Throughput Luminex group within the Therapeutic Proteins Department. The internship is intended to provide an overview and instruction of the Luminex primary screening process with a focus on a designed research project, culminating in a presentation of the completed project to the Luminex group. The currently planned project is to evaluate several proteins to determine the best capture/sandwich methods and competition assay for the one of the antibody platform. Additional projects, such as automation and other new technologies within the group, can be explored depending on the time constraints and performance of the studies and needs of the group.

Position 3: The student will work on a project involving research on B-cell hybridomas and technology development. This will be an opportunity to learn both techniques related to hybridoma antibody isolation as well as B-cell and antibody biology. We are seeking a self-motivated, science-minded individual who will strive to contribute to the research goals of the group. Job duties will include sterile tissue culture, immunoscreening and flow cytometry.

Position 4: The student will work on a project that involves developing and optimizing conditions for novel approaches of immunization in order to improve efficiency of immunogen delivery and generation of immune responses. The research will also include investigating new adjuvants that can enhance the humoral and/or cell-mediated immune response to the immunogens. The intern will assist in evaluating immune responses using techniques such as ELISA, MSD, ELISPOT, and Flow Cytometry and work closely with other members in Therapeutic Proteins Department and will have the opportunity to present the findings in group meetings.
