Description:

This position description does not represent a current opening but may be used to identify candidates with skills and experience for positions within Leidos Biomedical Research that frequently become available. Candidates who express an interest may be considered for future positions at Leidos Biomedical Research.

The Research Associate, Flow Cytometry Technician, will be responsible for:

  • Flow cytometry analysis of Tcell activation
  • Antibody staining of flow cytometry samples for multi-color (8-16 markers) analysis
  • Operation of multicolor flow cytometer and acquiring flow data using the LSR2 or the BD Canto in the Flow Core and/or the AMNIS Image Cytometer in the PADIS group
  • Work with PD Scientists in planning and implementation of complex in vitro flow cytometry experiments
  • Ability to maintain electronic notebook records

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

We will consider multiple levels for these openings.  To be considered for a Research Associate II, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education); Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
  • Five (5) years of related experience

To be considered for a Research Associate I, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education); Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
  • Two (2) years of related experience

Both levels must possess the following:

  • Experience with flow cytometry software and operation of multicolor flow cytometers
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • Experience with cell culture particularly with tumor cell lines and/or T cells and PBMC's is desirable
