Protein Formulation Scientist (PhD) (191980W-01)
The Formulations Team at DuPont Industrial Biosciences is looking for an outstanding protein formulation scientist to work in a collaborative environment characterizing macromolecules to support the development of enzyme products.
The individual should have strong, in-depth technical expertise with protein characterization techniques to identify and resolve activity failure mechanisms including aggregation, denaturation and chemical modification. Demonstrated mastery of techniques such as UV-Vis-, IR- and Fluorescence-Spectroscopy, DLS, SLS, ITC, DSC, DSF, and CD is highly desired.
In addition, the candidate should have both fundamental and applied understanding on interactions between biologically active proteins, and salts, low molecular weight compounds such as sugars and polyols, and non-protein macromolecules in matrices with both low and high water content. The successful candidate will have demonstrated independent and creative research, excellent design of experiments, execution of plans, interpretation of results and troubleshooting of methodologies. In addition, the candidate will have the ability to work collaboratively in a matrix environment with the ability to train, mentor and guide junior scientists in their independent efforts.
Ph.D. in biophysics, biochemistry, protein chemistry or closely related field is preferred. M.S. with equivalent experience
- Develop and execute biochemical and biophysical characterization to support formulation development efforts
- Apply computational tools to gain insight on excipient selection
- Support mechanistic understanding of formulated products to help refine formulation space
- Development and application of high throughput techniques
- Hands-on work in the lab
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, and proven ability to function well in a matrix organization pursuing team objectives
- High attention to detail
