Associate Scientist II- Vector & Cell Engineering - Antibody Discovery As part of a talented and multi-disciplinary team advancing exciting new approaches to drug discovery and development, AbbVie Stemcentrx is looking for a highly motivated associate scientist with experience in the engineering and characterization of over-expressing or knock down mammalian cell lines in support of the identification and validation of novel targets. This role is based at Stemcentrx and will contribute to a world-class team in identifying novel cancer stem cell targets and developing targeted antibody drug conjugate (ADC) therapies in oncology. The successful candidate will participate in all activities related to constructing new lentiviral vectors: vector construction, transfection, viral titration, and analysis of transduced cells; and assist in the development and optimization of novel approaches for characterizing target biology.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Engineer overexpression or knock down stable cell lines using lentiviral based gene delivery system
  • Clone expression vector and produce lentivirus
  • Characterize protein expression using flow cytometric methods, immunoblotting, or ELISA
  • Develop new technologies to manipulate cell line modification methods
  • Participate in the development and conduct of laboratory meetings, updating group members on background and status of projects by giving oral updates or internal presentations
  • Work closely with multiple research teams in a fast-paced discovery-oriented environment

  • BS or equivalent education with 6 years of experience, MS or equivalent education with 3 years of experience
  • Proficient in mammalian cell culture and DNA cloning strategies
  • Hands on experience with lentivirus production
  • Experience in flow cytometric methods, immunoblotting and qRT-PCR
  • CRISPR-Cas9 experience highly preferred
