The Bioassay Group in the Therapeutic Proteins Department seeks a highly motivated Research Associate with expertise in cell-based assay development and automation. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in transitioning bioassays from manual 96 well formats to fully automated 96 and /or 384 well assays. Specific experience should include operation and programming of the Hamilton Microlab Star and experience automating cell-based luciferase reporter, flow cytometry, calcium, viability, and/or imaging assays. Experience operating flow cytometers and plate readers and familiarity with flow cytometry analysis software (FlowJo, Forecyte, or FCS Express) are desired. Strong multitasking and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across groups in a fast-paced team environment is essential.

1) Mammalian Cell culture of adherent and non-adherent cell lines
2) Set up and run bioassays using previously established protocols
3) Program and operate Hamilton Microlab Star
4) Convert manual 96 well cell-based assays to fully-automated assays on the Hamilton Microlab Star
5) Evaluate feasibility of converting 96 well assays to 384 well formats
6) Operate a variety of instruments including but not limited to Hypercyte, Accuri C6 cytometer, ImageXpress micro XL, Victor, Flexstation, Hamilton, FLIPR
7) Provide Weekly presentations/verbal updates within and outside of the group

This position requires a minimum of a BS degree, and 2+ years relevant experience. Additional requirements include:
1. Cell culture (adherent and non-adherent cells)
2. Cell-based bioassay execution from established protocols
3. Operate and program Hamilton Microlab Star
4. Convert 96 well manual methods to automated assays
5. Communicate with bioassay and automation scientists
6. Ability to multi-task on several different projects
7. Operate plate readers, flow cytometry instruments, and imaging instruments
