SENIOR MANAGER, COMMUNICATIONS

Job Summary:

GBT is recruiting for a creative, resourceful, and collaborative team member for the role of Senior Manager, Communications.  Reporting to the Vice President, Investor Relations and Corporate Communications, the candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the day-to-day communications activities for the department and for supporting general corporate communications activities for internal and external GBT stakeholders (employees, investors, media etc.).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Employee Communications

  • Enhance employee connection and engagement through existing mechanisms and the creation of new mechanisms
  • Develop and deliver compelling messaging and content across employee communications channels by establishing a rapport with staff at all levels and departments
  • Schedule and manage process for employee meetings including coordinating logistics, agenda and content. Help prepare internal and external speakers
  • Manage development and distribution of employee emails and employee presentations
  • Assist with development of corporate intranet and maintain content, acting as a “corporate journalist” to highlight news, milestones, events and employees in real-time

Investor Relations

  • Prepare briefing documents for all investor meetings
  • Manage process and preparation of investor outreach activities including: participation in IR conferences, non-deal roadshows, teleconferences, Analyst Day, and annual shareholder mailing and meeting
  • Manage IR coordinator logistics of IR activities including: conferences, NDR’s and Analyst Day.
  • Maintain and update investor materials e.g. corporate website, corporate presentation, QA documents and corporate fact sheet
  • Distribute analyst reports to senior management team – highlighting key information
  • Manage the coordination and production of the annual report
  • Assist in the preparation of earnings releases and preparation for earnings calls

Corporate Communications

  • Manage the coordination, distribution and incorporate comments for press releases
  • Manage communications news flow and events calendar
  • Partner with external communications agency on managing content/ posting for all social media accounts (Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube)
  • Coordinate media interviews and assist with preparations
  • Support the execution of public/media relations campaigns with external agency
  • Establish relationship with marketing and advocacy relations teams to ensure activities are aligned across departments
  • Participate in community relations events and identify opportunities to incorporate key takeaways in corporate activities (e.g., social media channels)
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and vendor options for communications programs; suggest improvements and lead implementation of chosen solutions
  • Manage department budget and contracts and purchase order process for vendors
  • Handle special projects as requested to support department and company goals

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in communications or finance
  • 4-7 years of biotech or life sciences experience (in-house or agency) in investor relations and corporate communications is essential
  • Experience interacting with senior executives
  • Experience with social media tools and technologies (e.g., Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn)
  • Experience developing, writing and executing clear plans, timelines and budgets
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Self-starter with initiative and ability to execute once strategies are set
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Small company experience with fast-paced culture
  • Strong project management skills; highly organized and detailed-oriented
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Applications including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel
  • 10-15% travel, includes occasional off-hours and weekend work for events and medical meetings
