The purpose of this position is to help advance Dynavax’s immuno-oncology discovery research to inform clinical progression of our programs

This individual’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, execution of in vitro immune cell-based assays, mRNA and DNA-based assays and in vivo tumor immunology experiments. 

  • Specifically, the RA will conduct experiments that include but are not limited to:
  • Assisting with execution and analysis of in vivo tumor immunology experiments in syngeneic, xenograft and PDX mouse models, including, in vivo dosing of mice with test articles and subsequent tissue harvest / processing.
  • Purification of immune cell populations from animal tissue, and possibly human blood.
  • Flow cytometry analysis.
  • Primary immune cell bioactivity assays, cytokine / chemokine ELISAs, including analysis of cell culture supernatants and various biological fluids.
  • Isolation of RNA from cells and tissues and preparation of cDNA for quantitative PCR.
  • Other in vitro and in vivo immunology assays
  • Analyze experimental data, prepare and submit detailed technical reports, and present results at project team and departmental meetings.
  • Day-to-day coordination of laboratory reagents and maintenance of key equipment.
  • Work as a member of an integrated and matrixed project team in a highly collaborative work environment.
  • Document all scientific work in lab notebooks, follow established Dynavax standard operating procedures on data documentation and notebooks, and adhere to Dynavax Quality Systems standards.
  • Support the organization in maintaining a work environment focused on scientific integrity and quality, and one that fosters learning, open communication, collaboration, integration, and team work.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • BS/MS in the life sciences with a preference for a concentration or focus in immunology, biochemistry or related discipline. 
  • Required experience will vary depending on level: RA I level requires a BS and at least 1 year of relevant laboratory experience; RA II requires a BS with 2-5 years or an MS with at least 1 year of relevant laboratory experience.  
  • Relevant laboratory experience includes: aseptic cell culture of primary and established immune and tumor cell lines, ligand binding assays (e.g., ELISA, MSD, Luminex), FACS instrumentation and data analysis software, quantitative PCR. 
  • Experience in and/or willingness to conduct experiments with laboratory mice, including dosing of mice with therapeutic compounds and assisting in surgical procedures / tissue extraction. 
  • Immunohistochemistry experience is highly desired. 
  • Must be capable of working independently, detail-oriented, and must possess excellent record-keeping and strong organizational skills. 
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.  Experience with graphing and statistical software is desired.
