The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based scientific expert who supports the research and business objectives of a designated therapeutic area across the product life cycle. MSLs are the primary communicators of AbbVie science to healthcare professionals, and MSLs are viewed as peer scientific experts in a designated therapeutic area. MSLs must possess strong scientific expertise, relationship development skills and business acumen. The current opening is for an MSL supporting the Pancreatology therapeutic area, with territory to include the states of North Carolina and South Carolina.

Job Responsibilities

Identifies and develops professional relationships with external experts within assigned geography

Provides education relative to disease state and AbbVie products to healthcare professionals and researchers

Supports clinical development initiatives such as clinical trial site identification and evaluation, and ongoing scientific support of clinical trial site investigators and study staff.

Serves as a scientific resource to internal stakeholders to support activities such as scientific booths at scientific congresses, advisory boards, and training initiatives



Advanced degree required (i.e., Pharm D, MD/DO, PhD, PA or NP, BSN) in a relevant scientific discipline. Doctorate strongly preferred in a health science or clinical discipline. Significant industry experience in relevant therapeutic area may be accepted in lieu of education requirements.


Minimum two years of clinical, scientific/research, or industry related experience or equivalent required. Previous pharmaceutical industry experience within relevant scientific discipline preferred.
