Description THE COMPANY STRATEGY: Depomed has a clear THREE PILLAR strategy for growth: MAINTAIN a strong/profitable NUCYNTA franchise through a commercialization agreement with Collegium, GROW the Neurology and Pain Business and BUILD a new Specialty Business through a recent Cosyntropin transaction. The company's strategy is to continue to identify, license and develop new products-that offer enhanced therapeutic options to patient populations that may be underserved by existing therapies. As part of the transformation strategy, Depomed will be relocating its headquarters out of California. Information about location will be shared during the interview process. JOB SUMMARY Provide leadership for all aspects of Market Research and Competitive Intelligence to support on-market products as well as New Products and Corporate Development initiatives. These activities will include Market Research planning, implementation, communication of results, and alignment of brand strategies and plans. Provide a high-level of evidence-based, strategic guidance for Brand Teams and Senior Management. This role will also oversee in-market forecasting, which includes oversight of the process and deliverables for weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual and 5-year forecasts. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Lead all Primary and secondary research initiatives to support Depomed's product portfolio
  • Lead the in-market forecasting function, which includes oversight of the process and deliverables for weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual and 5-year forecasts
  • Maintain a comprehensive and current understanding of relevant therapeutic markets, enabling stronger guidance to Brand Team(s)
  • Engage consistently with internal customers to incorporate an additional layer of strategic thinking and research expertise
  • Guide and review Market Research plans to ensure alignment with Brand objectives
  • Ensure that Market Research projects are appropriately designed, executed and findings/insights are communicated throughout the organization efficiently (?)
  • Develop, manage and track the Market Research budget
  • Develop and oversee all audit reporting cycles (e.g. SHA) including report distribution for all market baskets
  • Fulfill Market Research ad-hoc requests for Executive Management, Sales, Commercial Operations, Managed Markets, Marketing and Business Development Departments
  • Analyze data and reports for integrity, accuracy, and interpretation on a routine basis and prior to release to customers
  • Research and consistently assess Pharmaceutical and Biotech companies and products, including secondary research to provide ongoing competitive intelligence for in-market products
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in areas of responsibility

  • Ad hoc market research support of Business Development and Corporate Strategy for in-license and out-license analysis, asset assessment and pipeline stage market research.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with internal and external partners, to ensure alignment and prioritization of goals and resources across multiple initiatives.
  • Manage external vendors and consultants to enable effective and efficient project execution.
  • Ensure team deliverables meet or exceed service-level expectations for quality, timeliness, and budget.
  • Introduce innovative approaches to assessing business problems and lead key department initiatives.
  • Up to 20% Travel
  • Bachelor's Degree Required ; preferably in Life Sciences or Business, with an advanced degree in Business or Science strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 12 years of applicable experience performing both primary and secondary Marketing Research in the Pharmaceutical industry
  • Advanced proficiency of general Pharma databases required, such as SHA, IMS, SDI
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word , Excel, and Access
  • Some travel required
