Apex Life Sciences has an immediate Senior Scientist opening with a very exciting start up company in the Greater Baltimore Area!

Highly motivated and creative Senior Principal Scientist to join a group of researchers evaluating novel therapies in the fields of Cancer Immunotherapy particularly as it relates to T-cell therapy.  Our lead program is in a large Phase 2b study in high-risk multiple myeloma with additional programs in solid tumors using MILs advancing to the clinic. We are also advancing programs to supercharge MILs through genetic-modification. The candidate will report to the Director, and work closely with the CSO and founder. The candidate will join a dynamic R&D team working to identify unique tumor-specific micro-environmental cues that impact T-cell function, differentiation and trafficking using a variety of tools including, classic molecular, cellular, and biochemical techniques, as well as modern imaging techniques, systems immunology, bioinformatics, and preclinical in vitro and in vivo models. The team is exploring  T-cell manipulation for the purposes of developing bone marrow derived lymphocytes (MILs) to develop ground-breaking immunotherapies to treat cancer patients

  Responsibilities and Duties

  • Work with project teams to identify the appropriate analyses for the assessment of tumor and immune responses
  • This role will help develop their gene modification platform, so MRNA design experience is a big plus. Experiences in vector biology huge plus.
  • Develop, qualify, perform assays and analyze data utilizing the appropriate statistical analyses
  • Identify and integrate technologies that improve or expand the ability to assess molecules by working with teammates
  • Daily duties include utilizing our process to extract, activate, and expand MILs for future commercial applications.
  • Regular participation and presentation of data and analyses at Project Team and department meetings

Qualifications and Skills

  • PhD., post-doctoral experience and +3 years in the field of biology, biomedical engineering, immunology, immuno-oncology or other relevant field; ideally, with 2+ years’ experience working in a biotech company, academia, or pharmaceutical company; would consider a master’s with 5+ years’ experience
  • Robust flow cytometry experience
  • T-cell extraction experience is huge plus.
  • Medial ganglionic eminence (MGE) cell culture experience major plus
  • Technical experience in the development, qualification and execution of ex vivo assays, such as T cell proliferation
  • This role will help develop their gene modification platform, so MRNA design experience is a big plus. Experiences in vector biology huge plus.
