We are currently looking to hire an Research Associate I. The ideal candidate will be competent at cell culture technique, but also versatile and able to adapt to learning new techniques to help understand the mechanisms of neurodegenerative disease. They must also be a good team member and capable of working well with others. The main responsibilities include:

  • Dissecting, and isolating rat primary neurons, and subsequent culturing
  • Culturing iPSCs
  • Differentiation of iPSCs into neurons
  • Transfections, imaging, and image analysis
  • Immunocytochemistry
  • Transfections, imaging, and analysis using a variety of software and custom written scripts
  • Designing, implementing and troubleshooting experiments
  • Communication of original findings in the form of presentations
  • Routine laboratory management (supply ordering, maintenance, and upkeep)
  • Must be available for limited work some weekends.


  • BS in a field of Biological Sciences
  • In depth knowledge of neurobiology, cell biology, and molecular biology

Skills/experience required:

  • At least 1-2 years of tissue culture experience with excellent aseptic technique
  • Experience with transfecting and imaging cells
  • Highly organized with excellent communication skills

Experience preferred:

  • At least 1 year of human iPS cell culture experience
  • Fluorescence microscopy and imaging analysis
  • Excellent computer skills including familiarity with coding languages such as R, Python, or Javascript
