The National Trainer for Access and Reimbursement is responsible for the leadership, development and timely delivery of approved content that is aligned to the training curriculum for access and reimbursement field professionals. Responsible for creating, developing and delivering specific access and reimbursement training for field facing roles, as well as call center based counselors. The National Trainer will work cross-functionally to pull through brand specific content within oncology and immunology. Position will rely on the ability to create, lead and work within cross functional teams comprised of participants from Training, Marketing, Management, Regulatory, & Legal, other AbbVie Groups and external vendor partners. Must be comfortable with cross functional team structure and adept at collaboration / influence management. Position will also require the national trainer to provide developmental support for teams and facilitate, lead workshops. Key Responsibilities Include:
Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality of Training Deliverables by:
  1. Collaborate cross -functionally and promote a culture of patient centricity and a high standard of support excellence within the team and work with multiple Abbvie and vendor lead teams to meet specified goals and objectives.
  2. Leading / driving the training strategy process, including analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of performance on a training curriculum focused on continuously improving the capabilities of the Access and Reimbursement Teams.
  3. Support multiple teams and team leads on various initiatives, identifying synergies across teams to maximize resources
  4. Work collaboratively with current vendors to evaluate complementary training curriculum and identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  5. Building effective relationships to work collaboratively across various channels, cross-functional partners, marketing, other training teams and other stakeholders involved in AbbVie learning initiatives, to drive performance through consistent development and delivery of effective commercial training.
Accountability / Scope: Access and Reimbursement Services National Trainer must:
  • Effectively represent Training and Immunology/Oncology Patient Services Organization
  • Work to enhance performance competencies to drive results within the Ways of Working within assigned therapeutic areas and channel partners.
  • Interact with and influence all levels of management to plan, design and develop learning strategies that will contribute to the achievement of related business objectives, KPIs.
  • Have a passion for driving excellence as well as a focus on performance that fosters accountability within self, Training, stakeholders and customers.
  • Lead the development of project delivery, schedules and timelines.
  • Take the lead on monitoring progress on the development service line, resolve issues and approve deviations from original plans.
  • Collaborate with Marketing in the creation of content and key delivery of strategic priorities.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and human relationship skills.
  • Provide effective customer service by being courteous, polite and friendly at all times. Acknowledge customers timely in order to determine their need and help the customer resolve the issue or request. Participate in departmental programs that promote and deliver exceptional content and business results service.
  • Maintain and effectively train compliant behavior, working closely with legal and Office of Ethics and Compliance
  • Pursue professional growth and development through personal reading, seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the trends in his/her field of expertise. May be required to travel to perform duties.

  • Bachelor's degree in health sciences or business required. MBA qualification is desirable.
  • 5+ years in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry
  • 3-5 years' experience working with reimbursement support teams
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of reimbursement and access across multiple Patient Access Support options (hospital charity programs, manufacturer patient assistance programs, co-pay card programs, etc.)
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of proper coding, billing, denials, and claims appeals related to product coverage and reimbursement
  • Experience educating and mentoring peers and direct reports
  • Knowledge of Commercial and Medicare reimbursement guidelines and insurance plan reimbursement methodology
  • Experience within the Managed Healthcare Space
  • Strategic thinking & business planning skills, necessary to diagnose needs, develop, direct, and influence commercial training and organizational development strategies.
  • Knowledge of instructional design systems or extensive experience in training, development of training and curriculum design are also desirable.
  • Project management experience, managing cross-functional teams and/or external partners through large projects or initiatives.
  • Additional experience in field access and reimbursement roles preferred.
