First, to ensure that all representatives, account executives, patient services professional and managers in Specialty Sales have the skills and knowledge necessary to meet/exceed the goals of their specific position. Second, to ensure that the Specialty training team, both direct and indirect reports, is effectively developed to advance their careers within AbbVie. Key Responsibilities Include:
Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system by: 1. Partnering effectively with the business to
Create short and long term training strategy for specific audiences which includes identification of training needs, prioritization of training implementation, partnering to develop training, and evaluation of effectiveness for both Initial Sales Training and continuing education of experienced sales force.
Proactively partner with marketing, sales management, and MHC training to understand market, health care provider, patients and product changes to determine implications for sales force development. 2. Develop and delivery appropriate and impactful account and sales force training
Be accountable for all aspects of training specific audiences and sales forces (reps, AEs, Patient Services Professionals, DMs, RMs, SDs) on selling skills, disease state knowledge, product knowledge, knowledge of US Commercial sales policies and procedures (including compliance-related policies), managed healthcare, key operating systems (e.g., iRep, 1View, expense reporting, etc.), territory/district/region management and coaching/leadership.
Ensure appropriate venues are selected for impactful training (ex., classroom, meetings, teleconference, and virtual live streaming webinars)
Ensure there are pull through initiatives in the field to reinforce training initiatives (ex. coaching guides).
Ensure alignment and integration of performance standards and systems to assess sales forces capabilities. 3. Departmental Development
Provide robust structured developmental job for sales trainers and sales training managers so they are top candidates in the recruiting pools for marketing managers, account executives, DM and RM positions respectively.

The number of direct & indirect reports will vary based on the number and size of franchises supported.
In addition, this position will include the managing of vendor resources as contracted, as well as the coordination of activities for program implementations.
This position is accountable to improve proficiency/effectiveness of account executives and the sales forces' knowledge of managed healthcare and public policy as well as how to leverage this information to improve sales. Improved proficiency has a positive impact on the attainment of area sales goals. Incumbent has full authority to revise and implement new training and development programs that are required to meet the needs. Incumbent has responsibility and/or influence over a training budget of $ 1 - 3 MM. Responsibilities will impact approximately 100 employees across US Commercial. Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards affecting Pharmaceutical Products (e.g. CFR 210/211, cGMP) specifically, Operating Guidelines, PhRMA Guidelines, AbbVie Code of Business Conduct.
  • 8-10 years: combination of sales and sales training experience required.
  • Sales management experience, at the District Manager level or above, required.
  • Must have proven experience in identifying training needs and effectively addressing those needs.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with Commercial management and with cross-divisional teams
  • Needs to have recent relevant commercial experience in the Oncology space, specifically hematology and or/solid tumor product and disease state experience
Preferred:
  • Master's degree or extensive experience in training & development is preferred.
  • Oncology Sales management experience, at the Regional Manager level or above preferred
  • Oncology Marketing and/or Oncology Training experience at the Manager level or above also preferred
