The AbbVie Experiential Internship Program:
As an AbbVie Experiential Intern, you'll participate in a paid, ten to twelve-week summer program that is focused on providing students with robust projects throughout the summer. As an experiential intern, you will be located at our corporate headquarters in north suburban Chicago, with housing and shuttle services for eligible students. Department Overview - Strategic Clinical Operations - Development Design Center (DDC) The goal of DDC is to provide analytical insight to strengthen and optimize clinical decisions. DDC will work with all funded and “pending 1” phase 2 and phase 3 clinical study teams to help them to think outside the box, to leverage various data sources to inform patient population, enrollment timeline, cost and feasibility, and to evaluate more innovative statistical design options. Assignment Details
  • Conduct and synthesize literature reviews on patient burden in clinical trials across therapeutic areas
  • Assess how patient burden is defined (within and across therapeutic areas/diseases) and identifying common factors to create an operational definition
  • Use Infosario Design tools to assist the evaluation of patient burden ranking in each TA
  • Use Infosario Design tools to assist the evaluation of clinical trial enrollment in each TA
  • Conduct statistical analyses (correlation, regression, other) to measure impact of patient burden on enrollment in respective TAs
Qualifications Basic:
  • Completed at least one year of college education before beginning internship
  • Must be enrolled in school the semester following your internship
  • Masters student in statistics, biostatistics, or related field
  • Minimum Cumulative GPA: 3.0/4.0
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship (students on an F1 visa with CPT can be accommodated)
  • Experience in medical literature search and evaluation
  • Previous clinical research experience
