The Protein Analytics Department in Biologics Science and Technology Organization at AbbVie Bioresearch Center in Worcester, MA is looking for an Associate Scientist / Scientist I to join their team.
The Protein Analytics Department is responsible for the development, execution and qualification of analytical methods for protein characterization, works closely with Quality Control for method transfer, and supports bioprocess development. Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Executing high-throughput and automated capillary electrophoresis, chromatographic and spectroscopic based methods to support the cell line development, cell culture development and protein purification development for product quantitation, product quality and process impurities for biologic molecules.
  • Contributing to the high-throughput analytics and automation team within Protein Analytics department that is mainly focused on the method development and implementation of various spectroscopic platforms and instruments (Octet-384, BioHT, Agilent UPLC, HPC, mass spectrometer and SpectraMax), high throughput analytical platforms (Gly Q, GXII-Touch, Maurice, iCE3® , and Peggy Sue®) and various robotic liquid handlers (Protein maker, Hamilton Star, Tecan and Bravo) to better understan AbbVie early and late phase products and processes throughout the drug development lifecycle.
  • Experience with one or more analytical assays including measurement for product quantitation (titer) and product qualities (glycan analysis, charge variant analysis, aggregation, and impurities) process impurities (host cell protein) and understanding of ELN (electronic notebook).

Position will be hired based on level of experience.


  • BS or MS degree in biochemistry, chemistry, biology, chemical engineering, analytical chemistry, biophysics, or related disciplines with 3-5 (BS) or 0-2 (MS) years of experience in industry or academia.
  • Experience with one or more analytical instruments including protein LC-MS, UPLC, HPLC, capillary electrophoresis, robotic liquid handler and data automation.
  • Must be a goal oriented team player with excellent communication and presentation skills, organization skills and be able to adapt to a timeline oriented work environment.
