General Position Summary/Purpose: Individual will be responsible for working with scientists in the immuno-oncology group contributing to understanding the immune modulating capacity and mechanism of action of the BTK inhibitor ibrutinib. The successful internship candidate will be trained to independently perform experiments using molecular cell biology and immunology techniques that employing a variety of cell types including primary immune cells from mouse and human donors, and clinical samples. Key Accountabilities/Core Job Responsibilities:
Independently execute experiments in the lab
Analyze and interpret data using scientific analysis and statistical software
Provide support to other studies driven by immuno-oncology scientists
Summarize and present findings to the research department
Maintain detailed records of all experiments in a laboratory notebook.
Emphasis will be placed on in-class or extracurricular laboratory experience.
A working understanding of basic cell or molecular biology techniques is a plus.
Proficient in computer skills (Microsoft Office).
Excellent organizational, record keeping, and communication skills.
Basic immunology knowledge and hands-on experience is a plus.
Qualified applicants will be currently enrolled collegiate students (Sophomore or higher) moving into either junior or senior level classwork in molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, or another related field.
- Be an active student in good standing at an accredited university.
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or equivalent.
