Fate Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated and innovative research professional with extensive experience in developing Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)-based assays to join our Genomics NGS team. The successful candidate will be a key member of the Genomics NGS team and support the development of genomic assays to fully characterize Fate’s novel induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) - derived cellular therapy products and Fate’s clinical patient samples from our current and future clinical trials. The candidate will be a key contributor within integrated and multidisciplinary teams solving complex problems, paving the way for precision development of the next generation cell-based immunotherapies in oncology and autoimmune diseases. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge and technical experience with NGS and real-time PCR related methodologies as well as a strong background in the associated analytical and bioinformatics knowledge. The major responsibility of this position is to apply state-of-the-art genetic methods (RNAseq, WGS, WES, CNV, off-target evaluation for gene editing technologies, and epigenetic characterizations including ATAC-seq, Methyl-seq) to fully characterize and understand Fate’s novel iPSC-derived cellular therapy product candidates. Experience working in a clinical diagnostic environment is strongly preferred but not required. This is a full-time position reporting to the Sr. Scientist of Genome Biology and it is located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego, California.

  • Plan, design, and execute experiments in the laboratory with general guidance from direct supervisor
  • Extract genomic DNA and RNA from different types of samples and perform sample QC
  • Perform NGS library construction for RNAseq, WGS (whole genome sequencing), WES (whole exome sequencing), amplicon-seq, and epigenetic sequencing (ATAC-seq, Methyl-seq)
  • Write SOPs and reports; keep a good laboratory notebook
  • Operate Illumina NGS instruments, and perform technical quality review of NGS data
  • Maintain Illumina NGS instruments
  • Train and mentor junior researchers
  • Work closely with the bioinformatic scientists to help develop, test, and support NGS data analysis tools and pipelines

About Fate Therapeutics, Inc.

Fate Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the development of programmed cellular immunotherapies for cancer and immune disorders. The Company's hematopoietic cell therapy pipeline is comprised of NK- and T-cell immuno-oncology programs, including off-the-shelf product candidates derived from engineered induced pluripotent cell lines, and immuno-regulatory programs, including product candidates to prevent life-threatening complications in patients undergoing hematopoietic cell transplantation and to promote immune tolerance in patients with autoimmune disease. Its adoptive cell therapy programs are based on the Company's novel ex vivo cell programming approach, which it applies to modulate the therapeutic function and direct the fate of immune cells.
