Process Development Scientst - Nanomaterials
This position is within Amgen Process Development function with linkages to Digital Integration & Predictive Technologies, Devices, Drug Product Technologies, Drug Substance Technologies, Attribute Sciences, and Manufacturing Process Development teams. As a member of materials sciences team, the Scientist will be responsible advancing the development, application, characterization and understanding of nanoscale materials and their application in biopharmaceutical products and manufacturing processes
The Scientist will oversee the development and application of advanced materials science knowledge and data to enable the next generation of products and processes at Amgen.
The position will identify current gaps in Amgen's materials tools and technology by working in a cohesive matrixed team environment to advance the state of the art of advanced materials science by optimizing the development and application of nanoscale control of materials and their applications.
The Scientist will be a member of the team to develop the Amgen materials science strategy and advance technology investment opportunities, partner selection, and IP management. In addition, the person will serve as a materials scientist for identifying, establishing and advancing Amgen core competencies in nanomaterials.
This position will manage all aspects of the development process including concept, planning, production, tracking, recording, and data analysis.
Travel requirement of at minimum 25% would be required as part of this role.
PhD or PhD completed by May 2018
Master's degree and 3 years of Operations, Process Development or Materials experience
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of Operations, Process Development or Materials experience
Associate's degree and 10 years of Operations, Process Development or Materials experience
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Operations,Process Development or Materials experience
-Ph.D. or equivalent in polymer nanomaterials or equivalent
-2 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or related industry which includes participation or experience with nanomaterial synthesis, characterization, application or processing
-Familiarity with statistical data analysis such as design of experiments, regression, and multivariate statistics data visualization and analytical software is preferred
-Knowledge or direct experience with state-of-the art advanced materials tools and technologies
-A track record of demonstrated external scientific track record which may include peer reviewed publications, scientific conference participation or participation in industry working groups or panels
-Advanced scientific writing, problem solving skills and abilities with technology commercialization
-Understanding of regulatory requirements including cGMP's and ICH guidelines
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated an ability to work effectively in a global team environment
-Ability to identify resources and develop timelines for project activities
-Experience working external partners and suppliers
