Process Development Scientist - Materials Integration
This position is within the Amgen Process Development function with linkages to Digital Integration & Predictive Technologies, Devices, Drug Product Technologies, Drug Substance Technologies, Attribute Sciences, and Manufacturing Process Development teams. As a member of material sciences team, the Scientist will lead a team responsible to innovate integrated materials solutions by combining interconnected technologies including sensor, electronics, data acquisition with materials technologies for applications in biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
Working in a matrixed global team environment the scientist will develop and implement state-of-the-art materials and connected technologies knowledge, tools and processes to enable advanced materials integrated solutions to advance the next generation of products and processes at Amgen. Specific focus will be to identify technology investment opportunities and key partnerships, and to drive the Intellectual Property materials strategy.
This position will manage all aspects of the development process including concept, planning, production, tracking, recording, and data analysis.
PhD or PhD completed by May 2018
Master's degree and 3 years of Operations, Process Development or Materials experience
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of Operations, Process Development or Materials experience
Associate's degree and 10 years of Operations, Process Development or Materials experience
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Operations, Process Development or Materials experience
-Ph.D. or equivalent in polymeric materials or equivalent
-2 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or related industry which includes participation or experience with integrated materials, electronics, data and sensing technologies
-Experience with statistical data analysis such as design of experiments, regression, and multivariate statistics
-Experience with data visualization and analytical software (i.e Spotfire, JMP, Tableau)
-Knowledge or direct experience with state-of-the art advanced materials, sensing, data acquisition, tools and technologies
-A track record of demonstrated external scientific track record which may include peer reviewed publications, scientific conference participation or participation in industry working groups or panels
-Advanced scientific writing, problem solving skills and abilities with technology commercialization
