DESCRIPTION

Lab operations leadership role for molecular diagnostics CLIA laboratory in well-established and expanding diagnostics company that develops and conducts pioneering high-complexity tests. This highly-diverse role requires several years of lab operations experience, technical acumen in molecular-testing, and managerial expertise necessary to maintain the high standards of this mutually-supportive, team-focused lab. As a nimble, high-visibility leader, you will also represent lab ops in various cross-functional collaborations and project teams and interact regularly with R&D, manufacturing, executive management, and external partners. In addition to molecular lab leadership experience, it is essential that you currently carry one of the following four special California licenses:

1.) Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Generalist),

2.) Clinical Chemist Scientist,

3.) Clinical Microbiologist Scientist, or

4.) Clinical Genetics Molecular Biologist Scientist (CGMBS).

Contributing your leadership skills and proactive oversight, and with the full support of executive management, you will guide your team, streamline processes, and troubleshoot issues to help promote and sustain a smooth-running, well-supplied, and audit-ready lab that includes a highly-collaborative work culture.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• DEGREES & MGMT EXP: PhD or MS with a minimum of 5 years’ molecular diagnostics lab operations leadership experience.

• LAB OPERATIONS: Management experience must include day-to-day operations of a busy, regulatory-compliant molecular diagnostics lab receiving samples from multiple draw sites in partnership with US-wide physicians. Ops experience that includes a successful track record in hiring, training, directing, mentoring, and motivating scientific staff and in promoting a collaborative, productive, and high-performance work culture, productivity.

• MDX TECHNICAL EXPERTISE: Technical skills and seasoning must include prior hands-on experience in high-complexity molecular diagnostic testing (i.e., qRT-PCR, NGS, or cfDNA) and up-to-date knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and FDA quality system principles and standards.

• TEAM LEADERSHIP: A successful history of clinical team leadership that includes applying advanced technical knowledge and exceptional interpersonal & communication skills providing guidance, oversight, and troubleshooting to cultivate and support a skilled CLS team.

• MANDATORY LICENSING: Due to clinical lab regulatory requirement, must currently be certified in one of the following specialized clinical lab licenses: 1.) Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Generalist),

2.) Clinical Chemist Scientist,

3.) Clinical Microbiologist Scientist, or

4.) Clinical Genetics Molecular Biologist Scientist (CGMBS).
