Senior Scientist, Translational Research
Position Role: The successful candidate would be expected to lead as well as conduct, hands-on, translational research and pre-clinical studies pertaining to our stem cell and gene therapy programs. Taking the helm for the development and completion of INDs is expected, utilizing internal and external (expert consultant) resources in a time-efficient and cost-effective manner. This is a role for a person who enjoys leading (and wants to grow as a leader), thinks through the strategy and study designs, and gets the studies done.
Position Requirements: Angiocrine Bioscience has aims to build its internal capabilities in gene therapy research (starting with gene integration). Applicant must have at least 7 years’ hands-on experience and must demonstrate expertise in translational studies involving genetic modification of hematopoietic stem cells and other cell types. More specifically, experience in personally conducting in vitro and in vivo studies designed to carefully assess viral and non-viral transduction/transfection efficiencies, integration proficiency, vector design and viral copy number of the delivered gene product(s) is required. Experience in writing non-clinical sections of the IND is also required. The successful candidate of this position will be viewed by the Company as the internal expert in transduction, transfection and gene integration and editing. Demonstration of high-level thinking and effective communication skills, through both writing and oral presentation, would be expected.
The successful candidate would exude thoughtfulness, ‘can do’ attitude, penchant for creative problem solving and the passion to overcome challenges and obstacles to realize science to clinical reality. The person in this role would be comfortable being a leader of his/her area and a productive member of a cross-functional team. This person is not bothered by fast-paced evolution and change, nor fearful of taking on the unknown and unfamiliar.
Additional Desired Skills and Knowledge: While not a requirement, solid familiarity in hematopoietic stem cell science, cell therapy and monogenic hematologic diseases would be a great plus. Applicant needs to have a strong publication record and solid recommendations verifying his/her previous work.
