Biology Core Support group is seeking a highly motivated individual with solid tissue culture experience to join the mammalian protein expression team. The successful candidate will join our team to conduct large scale protein production from hybridoma culture, transient transfection and/or stable cell line to support ongoing and novel targets in our pipeline. The candidate will be responsible for weekly maintenance of multiple cell lines, large scale transfection in shake flask or bioreactor platform and management of cell culture consumable inventory. He/she should have in-depth knowledge of running WAVE Bioreactor or Single Use Bioreactor operation, sampling of culture and cell harvest procedure. Experience of expression in high throughput and miniaturized platform is required. In-depth knowledge of FACS and independent operation of various models of FACS instrument is required. The candidate is responsible to optimize current protocol and develop new processes to create new culture processes to achieve high productivities and qualities of recombinant protein to support multiple projects in parallel.

Essential duties and job functions:
Able to think critically and independently plan, design and execute essential experiment to support/augment our recombinant protein production platform. Able to handle multiple cell lines at once. Experience of independent operation of WAVE BioReactor and protocol development is a must. Experience of single-use bioreactor platform is a plus. Conduct stable cell line generation using conventional and/or viral infection method to support screening effort and enhance our protein production capacity. Maintains familiarity with scientific literature and identify new technologies that improve workflow and throughput of our current platform. The candidate must be able to select appropriate method and techniques in optimizing cell culture process to achieve high productivities. Communicate experimental strategies and results to peers and team members. Be proficient in data analysis and able to draw conclusion and explain anomalies. Provide expertise in bioreactor operation within the group. Collaborate with team member to transfer process and media. Be knowledgeable in new development and technique in cell culture process and cell line development.

Knowledge, experience and skills:
Applicant should have a BS degree in related discipline and 9+ years of relevant experience or an MS degree with 8+ years of experience. The candidate should demonstrate in-depth knowledge of mammalian protein expression and hands-on experience of using multiple platforms for transfection or stable cell line generation in 293, CHO, NS0 and other specialty cell lines. Prior knowledge of performing large scale electroporation is a plus. In-depth knowledge of WAVE Bioreactor and/or bench top bioreactor platform is a must. Be familiar with scientific literature and proactively research new methods and techniques to promote process efficiency and product quality. Experience of molecular biology techniques, operation of flow cytometry, and protein biochemistry technique is a must. Candidate should have excellent technical, trouble-shooting, problem solving capability and be able to work independently with minimal supervision to generate high quality data in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate should also have excellent oral and written communication skills
