PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Clinical Services Program's primary mission is to perform sequential studies of immune function in patients with cancer, AIDS, chronic granulomatous disease or other diseases associated with immunologic dysfunction, as well as to monitor viral load in patients with HIV.

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES- THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON FUNDING APPROVAL

Research Associate II

The Research Associate II will join a team working on the following:

  • Evaluation of candidate cancer vaccines in preclinical and/or initial clinical development
  • Production of vaccine antigens
  • Detection of vaccine-induced antibodies in mouse and human clinical samples
  • In vivo and in vitro evaluations of immunogenicity, tumorigenicity and vaccine efficacy testing using mouse models  

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education)
  • Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
  • In addition to the education requirements, a minimum of five (5) years of laboratory bench experience
  • Experience in cell line maintenance, DNA isolation, purification, and transfection, expressed antigen purification and verification by Western blot
  • Experience in immunological assays that may include ELISA, ELISPOT, Luminex assays, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration

  • Experience with assay development and virus like particle production
  • Experience in preclinical/clinical research of vaccines/biologics
  • Familiarity with regulatory and GMP, GCLP and GLP
  • Knowledge of or experience with tumor immunology and vaccines
  • Master’s Degree

Expected Competencies:

  • Ability to evaluate and analyze experimental results
  • Ability to function independently in the laboratory, conducting experiments, data analyses and troubleshooting
  • Proficient in immunological and molecular biology techniques
