MedImmune seeks an innovative and highly motivated Associate Scientist I/II with a background in immunology or related field to join the Immune Oncology (IO) team in Oncology.  The candidate will be responsible for conducting laboratory experiments that support IO projects, and will work in a matrix environment with other functional units within MedImmune and with external collaborators.  The individual may have the opportunity to identify and interrogate the biology of new immunomodulatory targets or target pathways using cutting-edge technologies and novel approaches to enrich our immunotherapy pipeline.  

Position Requirements/Qualifications: -

A strong background in immunology or a related field, and experience with immunology assays, is highly valued. Laboratory activities will include routine cell culture, collection and processing of biological materials, in vitro assays with both primary and immortalized cells, and use of analytical methods such as ELISA, immuno-fluorescence microscopy, immunoblotting, si/shRNA assays and multi-fluorochrome flow cytometry.  Experience with multiparameter flow cytometry in immune cell assays and with in vivo animal modeling (mouse syngeneic, autochthonous and/or xenograft cancer models) is required. The ability to independently review, analyze, and interpret experimental results are essential. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communication skills, innovation, creativity and the ability to interact in a collaborative environment within the group and across the organization.

Education/Experience Requirements:

Assoc. Sci I - B.S.  - 5+yrs relevant immunology experience;  M.S. - 2+yrs relevant immunology experience or equivalent  education in the field of immunology.

Assoc. Sci II - B.S.  - 8+yrs relevant immunology experience;  M.S. - 5+yrs relevant immunology experience or equivalent  education in the field of immunology.

*Biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred but not essential. Successful candidates will have strong written and oral communication skills, be self-motivated, innovative, and proficient in laboratory techniques. Education: B.S., M.S. or equivalent degree; education in the field of immunology valued.

Special Skills and abilities:
Research experience in the field of immunology is highly desired, in particular, that involving tumor immunobiology.
