Rosetta Genomics Ltd. and Collaborators From M. D. Anderson Cancer Center And University of Heidelberg to Present New Data at American Society of Clinical Oncology 2010 on Clinical Studies Involving miRview mets

(NASDAQ:ROSG), a leading developer and provider of microRNA-based molecular diagnostic tests, announces new data from two studies using the Company’s miRview™ mets test to predict the tissue of origin (ToO) in patients with cancer of unknown primary site (CUP) will be presented in a poster session and in the abstract book at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) 2010 Annual Meeting to be held at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago from June 4-8, 2010.

Researchers from the University of Texas, M. D. Anderson Comprehensive Cancer Center, considered a leading tertiary referral hospital which handles some of the more challenging CUP cases, will hold a poster presentation to discuss an ongoing prospective study conducted in collaboration with Rosetta Genomics. In the study involving 90 tissue samples, miRview mets demonstrated high concordance with the clinical diagnosis determined by the clinicians at M. D. Anderson.

Identification of the tissue-of-origin of metastatic tumors is vital for patient management, allowing physicians to guide the use of specific therapies, which may impact survival,” noted Kenneth A. An additional study conducted with collaborators from the University of Heidelberg in Germany will be published as an abstract in the ASCO 2010 Annual Meeting abstract book, which will be available throughout the conference. This study, entitled “Accurate classification of metastatic brain tumors using a novel microRNA-based test,” validated the high accuracy of the miRview mets test in identifying the ToO of metastasis of unknown primary and demonstrated its clinical utility. The test was also able to suggest origins in cases where the pathological review was insufficient, suggesting additional clinical utility in those hard-to-resolve cases.

About microRNAs

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are recently discovered, small RNAs that act as master regulators of protein synthesis, and have been shown to be highly effective biomarkers.
