Vizient Highlights Device and Pharmacy Insights in “Emerging Pediatric Technologies” Tech Watch

Children who are hospitalized often require specialized devices and drug treatments that are appropriate for their smaller size. To assist providers with insights and education into the latest innovations and technology Vizient has published its latest edition of its Technology Watch series titled, “Emerging Pediatric Technologies”. The report highlights the development of new medical devices for the pediatric patient population, a group that has historically lagged behind adult patients, in the development of innovative technology.

In its Emerging Pediatric Technology report, Vizient advocates for the development of pediatric care technologies, seeking to increase their availability to the youngest of patients. From easier ways to make diagnosis, finding new ways to treat common but dangerous conditions, or developing technology to resolve surgical issues in the least invasive ways, the report opens a window to the world of pediatric care innovation. The report includes projections and assessments including:

  • Pricing projections by product category
  • Projected drug price changes July 2018-June 2019
  • Effect of regulatory and legislative actions
  • Device and pharmaceutical innovations

Vizient has developed and published this report to help ensure its members and the public are aware of and understand new, cutting-edge technologies with the potential to help improve pediatric care.
