PhotoThera, Inc. Announces New President And Chief Executive Officer

CARLSBAD, Calif., April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- PhotoThera Inc. today announced it has hired medical device veteran Thomas Wilder as President and Chief Executive Officer. Wilder will commence his new role on April 17th 2006. Jackson Streeter M.D., the Company's Founder and current Chief Executive Officer, will continue to serve an active role as the Company's Chief Scientific Officer and Chairman. "Tom brings to PhotoThera a broad array of device experience that will prove valuable as we continue to develop and seek regulatory approval for our proprietary ischemic stroke technology. We are delighted to have Tom on board," Streeter said.
Wilder served most recently as the President of ev3's Neurovascular Division. From October 2002 to January 2006, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of MicroTherapeutics Inc. (MTI), a publicly-held medical device company focused on neurovascular technologies. MTI was a majority-owned subsidiary of ev3 that was merged fully into ev3 in January 2006.
From 1991 to 2002, Wilder served at Medtronic Inc., most recently as Vice President and General Manager of its endovascular stent grafts division. During his tenure at Medtronic, he also held a variety of finance, business development, and operations positions at U.S. and international locations, including Hong Kong, Belgium and The Netherlands. Wilder earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Stanford University and a Masters in Management from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
