NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Ontario Bioscience Innovation Organization (OBIO®) is honoured to announce the conclusion of the successful Canadian Health Investment Showcase which took place in New York, NY, on November 5 and 6, 2018.

At the Showcase, 21 representatives from Canada’s highest potential health science companies and more than 35 premier US investors engaged in hundreds of meetings and created exciting investment and collaboration opportunities.

“OBIO is proud of the success of the Canadian Health Investment Showcase which has demonstrated the incredibly high quality of Canadian health science companies to US investors,” said Gail Garland, President and CEO of OBIO. “The success of this showcase reveals the high-quality deal flow in Canada for US investors and establishes new networks for Canadian companies in the US.”

Over two days at the Consulate General of Canada in New York, OBIO’s Canadian Health Investment Showcase profiled elite US investment firms Aisling Capital and Canaan Partners as well as expertise from Norton Rose Fulbright and Biotagenics in a robust discussion on the feasibility of cross-border investing. Silicon Valley Bank provided a keynote address on trends in health investing this year and Cresco Advisors and Edison Partners shared investor insights in the digital health space.

“OBIO’s Canadian Health Investment Showcase was a highly effective event that highlighted both the world-class calibre of Canadian health science technologies and companies, as well as the opportunity for US investors in Canada,” said Dennis Purcell, Founder and Senior Advisor at Aisling Capital. “I look forward to developing the opportunities that have come out of this event and to working with OBIO in the future.”

As Canadian health science companies scale and grow here, attracting global capital and building networks of investors is of paramount importance.

“OBIO’s Canadian Health Investment Showcase was an unprecedented success for both Canadian health science companies and the industry as a whole,” said Dr. Jeremy Bridge-Cook, CEO of Rna Diagnostics. “I am proud to have been part of the delegation of companies at the Canadian Health Investment Showcase and I congratulate OBIO on delivering an unparalleled investor event for Canadian companies.”
