Neuroscience Therapy Corporation Reveals Economic Impact Of Pain
Published: May 02, 2006
LAS VEGAS, May 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Neuroscience Therapy Corp. reports economic statistics related to pain and the burden it puts on society. The Company believes its leading product P-Stim will help to alleviate this burden.
Chronic pain is the most costly health problem in the U.S. today, according to the NIH and UAB Health Systems. It is estimated that 98 million people in the U.S. suffer from just the four most common types of chronic pain: arthritis pain, migraine pain, low back pain and cancer pain.
The economic impact that chronic and acute pain has on society is enormous. It is reported that more than half of patients reporting chronic pain are older than 55. This burden is expected to grow in future years as the numbers of baby boomers age.
According to the American Chronic Pain Association, 56 percent of people taking pain medication are concerned about potential side effects, addiction, need for higher doses and life dependency on drugs.
Neuroscience Therapy Corp. believes P-Stim will appeal to this group, because it has no known side effects, unlike many pharmaceutical drugs. Because P-Stim has been proven to be effective and safe in Europe, the Company believes it will thrive as they begin marketing P-Stim.
Neuroscience Therapy Corp. President Dr. Randolph A. Turpin said, "It is in an ideal time to begin marketing P-Stim. It's obvious that there's a great need for our product, and we plan to benefit from it."
