Montgomery County Executive Welcomes Advanced Vision Therapies To County's Business Incubator

Reaffirming their support of small and start-up technology companies, Montgomery County, Maryland, County Executive, Douglas M. Duncan and Maryland Secretary of Business and Economic Development Aris Melissaratos officially welcomed Advanced Vision Therapies, Inc. (AVT) into the County's high technology business incubator- the Maryland Technology Development Center (MTDC). Advanced Vision Therapies, Inc. (AVT), founded in 2003, is a new, biotech/biopharmaceutical company, focused on gene transfer therapies for fighting blindness. The company is developing and commercializing new, breakthrough therapies for the treatment of major sight-threatening eye diseases, including wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy (DR), and retinitis pigmentosa (RP). The company has developed a proprietary gene transfer system that is capable of delivering therapeutic proteins to the back of the eye and has identified novel therapeutic agents for the treatment of these diseases.
