MHCC mobilizes to prevent suicide
OTTAWA /CNW/ - Today, on World Suicide Prevention Day, we are reminded that everyone can make a contribution to suicide prevention. The Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) is taking concrete steps to help individuals and communities across Canada prevent suicide by building resources and tools, and mobilizing the uptake of best practices. Our work includes:
Every year in Canada, an estimated 4,000 people take their lives. Suicide affects all ages and people from all walks of life.
Under the theme Working Together to Prevent Suicide, the MHCC joins other partners to ask everyone to come together and remind each other that help, hope and healing are possible. As a national leader in mental health resource and policy development, the MHCC is fulfilling its commitment to meet the needs of people affected by suicide.
On World Suicide Prevention Day, I invite everyone to take action by sharing resources like our toolkits for people affected by suicide and by posting a positive message on social media through our #sharehope wall.
If you or someone you care about needs immediate help, reach out to the local crisis line in your region.
Together we can stop suicide.
