Medical Services International Inc. Completes Tuberculosis (TB) Testing In Republic Of Ukraine
EDMONTON, Alberta, Dec. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Medical Services International Inc. is pleased to announce that it has completed testing of its VScan Tuberculosis (TB) test kit with the National Institute of Tuberculosis in Republic of Ukraine with excellent results.
Upon completing the testing, the results showed that the VScan TB test kit was very accurate with greater than 80% accuracy. There is no rapid test kit available on the market that has as high diagnostic results. The National Institute recommended that the VScan TB test kit be used in practical investigation for Tuberculosis (TB) as well as for specialized diagnostic medicine in the Republic of Ukraine.
A recommendation of this magnitude from the National Institute of Tuberculosis is extremely favorable to Medical Services. It will allow the Company to get approval in up to 4 additional countries in Eastern Europe. It is reasonable to expect sales of 3 to 5 million VScan TB test kits in the first year. Tuberculosis is extremely prevalent throughout Eastern Europe. Tuberculosis is highly contagious. The WHO has estimated that Tuberculosis (TB) will kill over 8 million people this year. This is more than all the other infectious diseases combined. It is estimated that 35% of the people that are HIV positive have TB. This is the first time that a TB rapid diagnostic test kit with such high diagnostic capabilities has been available in Eastern Europe. The test results combined with the recommendation from the National Institute of Tuberculosis should be very beneficial to the Company. The anticipated sales of 3.0 million VScan TB test kits would generate US$9,600,000 in revenue for the Company.
