Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) is on watch following reports that it might have received bids for its diagnostics unit. Reuters said late Monday that private equity firms like Blackstone Group LP (NYSE: BX), KKR & Co. (NYSE: KKR), Bain Capital LLC, Carlyle Group (Nasdaq: CG), and BC Partners Ltd. are among firms that have submitted first-round bids for J&J's Ortho Clinical Diagnostics unit. Market watchers suspect that the unit could ultimately draw $5 billion or more.
