Hepatitis Delta Yields to Peginterferon, Not to Adefovir, Hannover Medical School Study

MedPageToday -- Treatment with the antiviral drug pegylated interferon alfa-2a cleared hepatitis delta in about a quarter of patients, researchers reported. In contrast, the nucleotide analogue reverse transcriptase inhibitor adefovir dipivoxil had little effect, whether alone or in combination with the interferon, according to Michael Manns, MD, of the Hannover Medical School in Hannover, Germany, and colleagues.
