HEI Life Sciences Chosen To Provide Clinical Phlebotomy Services For University of North Carolina's Anorexia Nervosa Genetics Initiative

SAN MATEO, Calif., May 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- HEI Life Sciences (HEI) has been awarded a contract by the University of North Carolina, (UNC) to provide collections of blood samples for subjects participating in an Anorexia Nervosa study. The Anorexia Nervosa Genetics Initiative, (ANGI), https://www.med.unc.edu/psych/eatingdisorders/our-research/angi, is a global study and the largest and most rigorous genetic investigation of eating disorders ever conducted. HEI was chosen based on their past performance of excellence in similar studies to provide collections nationwide.

"We are able to provide an easier and convenient solution for their subjects. Our focus is to obtain specimens from clinical research subjects in their own home or in an environment where they are most comfortable," says Robert Dahut, founder of HEI. One of the biggest challenges for a study is to attract participants because typically it is not convenient for a subject to participate in a study. Sometimes a subject is not physically capable of going into a clinic. Furthermore, most clinics do not offer availabilities centered around a working subject's schedule. By mobilizing the study HEI is able to help expand the target subject population.

ANGI recently released an article, emphasizing the importance of mobility to the study: "To date we've received a tremendous amount of interest and support, but participants have had to travel to donate a blood sample. We've just made participating in ANGI easier than ever! We can bring the blood draw to you!"

HEI does an excellent job of customizing their services to fit their subject's needs and provides availability 7 days a week. "Our company has had phenomenal growth over the years from the bio-tech, pharmaceutical and academia research community due to the mobilized menu of services we provide. Our subject-centered solution offers the unique opportunity to attract and retain study participants," states Robert Dahut.

In the past, clinical trials had to rely on their study participants go to a hospital or clinic, which was a challenge and inconvenience for some patient populations because of physical limitations, health conditions and limited schedules. HEI brings the study to their subject's home or office, offering convenience, practicality and ease to their schedule. Subjects enjoy the convenience of having non-traditional options available to them.

HEI is a leader in this industry and is emerging as an expert in this field, providing a platform to reach a wider subject population by removing what would normally be their greatest obstacle and into turning it into a solution to benefit life sciences.
