Femtech Pioneer genneve Launches Menopause Telehealth Platform

SEATTLE and SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 8, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- genneve, the female-founded femtech leader, today will launch its telehealth platform designed to provide expert menopause counsel to women in America, live at the 2019 StartUp Health Festival.

Available initially in four US states – Washington, California, Georgia and New Jersey – women will be able to speak confidentially and from the comfort of their own homes with a menopause-specialist physician or nurse practitioner. genneve will continue to add states with a plan to cover the entire U.S. by 2020.

"Our platform helps close the accessibility gap by providing women everywhere access to qualified menopause care. Less than 7 percent of American women receive treatment for menopause symptoms that are disrupting their lives," commented Jill Angelo, CEO of genneve. "As the first-ever online clinic for women in menopause, we uniquely provide a one-stop shop of experts, resources, products and community."

At genneve.com, women can make a telehealth appointment to video chat with health care practitioners, many of whom have been certified by the North American Menopause Society (NAMS).

According to JoAnn Pinkerton, MD, NCMP, NAMS Executive Director, "There is a lot that's misunderstood about menopause and midlife women's health. Clinicians who have earned the credential of NAMS Certified Menopause Practitioner (NCMP) have demonstrated their extra knowledge and specialized interest in menopause, allowing them to provide optimal care to the women they serve."

Payment is out-of-pocket and will be priced at $45 to connect virtually with a nurse practitioner and $65 with a physician.

The company is also making menopause easier for women as their one-stop shop for care:

  • genneve's Menopause Assessment, developed by the company's ob/gyn Director of Health Dr. Rebecca Dunsmoor-Su, gives women a view into where they are in their unique "menopause journey" and provides a set of content, nutrition and lifestyle recommendations tailored to their unique situation.
  • genneve's catalog of menopause products, both the company's own line of safe, effective lubricants, moisturizers, and hygiene products, as well as carefully curated partner products, provide real solutions to menopause symptoms.
  • In the genneve community, women can safely engage in conversations with practitioners and women going through the same struggles.
  • Women can access hundreds of free, physician-informed and physician-vetted blogs, podcasts and videos, all focused on the 34 menopause symptoms women can experience during the two to 10-year journey.

According to research firm Frost & Sullivan's Paljit Sohal, "There's a huge market opportunity to provide diagnostic services and collect data to help women understand their bodies, help doctors prescribe the best remedies, and ultimately, give medical researchers insight into how hormones affect every aspect of a woman's health. There are lots of apps out there for fertility and menstruation, but genneve is really making an impact for women's health over 40."

"At a time when women can feel really out of control of their bodies, even their emotions, we're helping them take their lives back. And women are responding," says Angelo. "We're menopause care for the modern woman. We've got a vibrant and growing community of 30,000 users per month accessing our services. But we know only 7 percent of women get the help they need with menopause symptoms. With more than 37 million women in or nearing menopause in the U.S. alone, we have a lot of room to grow."

About genneve:

genneve is the first-of-its-kind online clinic for women in menopause. The company's mission is to empower every woman to take control of her health in menopause and beyond. Founded by former Microsoft exec Jill Angelo and former Neutrogena exec Jacqui Brandwynne, genneve was initially focused on providing products to relieve intimate dryness due to hormone change. The company broadened its vision to encompass all the impacts of menopause based on thousands of conversations with women and frustration with the outdated approach to serving women 40+ in America's healthcare system.
