FDA Clears Advanced Medical Optics, Inc.'s New Vision Correction Device

Federal regulators have approved a new eye-surgery laser made by Advanced Medical Optic that could eliminate the need for reading glasses in some people with poor eyesight. The Food and Drug Administration said the CustomVue Monovision Lasik is the first laser surgery tool that can enable one eye to see objects far away and the other to see objects at a close distance. FDA approved the device for people over age 40 who have trouble seeing distant objects.
