ESSC Receives $1.75 Million Donation From David and Molly Pyott Foundation to Transform Former Santa Ana Corporate Offices Into Adult Day Services Center; Groundbreaking June 22nd

ORANGE COUNTY, Calif., June 22, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Easterseals Southern California (ESSC) has received a generous $1.75 million gift to expand its adult day services in Orange County on the site of the non-profit's current Santa Ana corporate office location, which will relocate to Irvine June 25.

The donation was received from the David and Molly Pyott Foundation, founded by ESSC Board Chair Molly Pyott and her husband, philanthropist and former CEO of Allergan David Pyott, Irvine-area residents and long-time supporters of ESSC, which assists more than 10,000 people with disabilities throughout southern California.

Following the relocation of ESSC's corporate offices to 1063 McGaw Ave., Irvine, the Pyott gift will be utilized to pay-off the Santa Ana location's mortgage and renovate the site to create a new adult day services location for the organization in Orange County. ESSC, which also has an adult/senior day services location in Brea, provides local, community-based programs throughout O.C. - as well as in Los Angeles, San Diego, Imperial, Kern, San Bernardino, Riverside and Ventura counties - for people with developmental disabilities or other special needs.

Expected to open its doors mid-year 2019, the new ESSC Adult Day Services Center, 1570 E. 17th St., Santa Ana, will serve up to 200 individuals through on-site and community-based programs, providing them with the opportunity to become active members of the community by learning work-related skills and engaging in regularly scheduled volunteer work, community service projects and other ventures.

Commented Nancy Weintraub, chief development officer of ESSC, "Molly and David's extraordinary generosity of both time and financial support are unprecedented in the history of Easterseals Southern California and will make an enormous difference to the adults with developmental disabilities or other special needs who will be served at this new site. We are incredibly thankful to them for helping us to expand our ability to serve more people at a new location in Orange County and Molly's continuing guidance as chair of our board."

Said Molly Pyott, "The original Santa Ana corporate office location holds a special place in the hearts of the staff and board members of Easterseals Southern California. Transforming the property into a state-of-the-art, adult day services center has elicited tremendous feelings of pride for us all. The expansion of important, life-changing services will create profoundly positive differences for people with disabilities in our community."

Design for the new adult day services center is by Newport Beach-based architectural firm H. Hendy Associates.
